Housekeeper – Job Description

Wage: $8.00 to $12.00 per hour Depending on Qualifications    Status: Permanent Part Time

Job Description: Under supervision of the library director, cleans the Eldora Public Library.

Example Job Duties:

• Dusting as needed wall hangings, furniture, tops of bookcases, shelves, magazine racks, window sills, and electronic equipment.

• Vacuuming, high traffic areas at least every other day, other areas at least once a week.

• Clean rest rooms every other day. Replace toilet tissue and soap when necessary. Mop floor, scrub toilet bowls, clean sinks, mirrors, and counters.

• Empty wastebaskets as needed.

• Take garbage out.

• Interior window cleaning as needed.

• Sweep floors as needed.

• Mop hard floors as needed, at least weekly.

• Clean up stains and other jobs as needed within the time contracted.

 Qualifications:

Minimum Training and Experience:

• Knowledge of general cleaning techniques.

Minimum Abilities Required:

• Must be able to read and follow directions for the use of chemical cleaners.

Preferred Abilities, Experience and Education:

• Knowledge of general cleaning techniques.

• Prior experience is a plus, but not required.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

• Must be generally physically fit able to perform motions such as crouching, grasping, pulling, pushing, lifting, standing, stooping, kneeling, walking, and repetitive motions.

• Must be able to lift 30 pounds occasionally and exert 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

• Vision with the ability to see details at or within eight feet.
