MINUTES
Eldora Public Library Board of Trustees
October 20, 2009

PRESENT: Mary Swartz, Don Wilson, Kristin Gehrke, Jan Dunn, Dean Stickrod, Jill Stanish, Dan Gehring

MINUTES were approved. BILLS were approved.

Ian indicated that the budget process for the next fiscal year begins at the end of the month.  The library can turn in their budget proposal at the end of November or December.

Discussed use of trust funds for painting the library.  Ian said that all bills will need to go through City Hall.

Dan gave the Director's report.  Downspouts have been installed on the library, work on the small air conditioner was completed and the windows are installed. Doors have been ordered. Estimates for window trim need to come in.

Discussed fabric for replaced chairs. Building and Grounds Committee recommended a grey tweed fabric. Color was approved and Dan will place the order.  New tables will arrive in November.  Damaged chairs will be hauled away by city.

Discussed shelf arrangement.  Buildings and Grounds Committee recommended leaving the general arrangement of shelves to remain the same after carpeting with the exception of moving one bookshelf in the children's area (where toys are currently) to the space that the microfiche currently occupies. The microfiche would me moved elsewhere. The movement of the one shelf would open up the children's area for programming.

Discussed painting bids. Jan will talk to the Linda Swanson to clarify items on her bid.  Discussed not repainting maintenance and closet areas to cut costs.  Paint colors were briefly discussed.

Discussed waiving copy fees. It was decided that fees would stay in place as much of the copying for storm claims was already past.

Dan passed out copies of the Library Patron Service Survey with some minor revisions. The revised survey was approved.  Dan will check into having the survey available online.

NEXT MEETING: Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at 5:00pm.
