PRESENT:  Don Wilson, Jan Dunn, Kristin Gehrke, Jill Stanish, Mary Swartz, Dan Gehring

Ian reported that the budget had passed. The city is negotiating with the union about reducing the percentage increase for salaries. Ian will check on the percentage return on the Frey Trust.

MINUTES were approved. BILLS were approved.

Discussed the library’s bill for Movie Licensing fee which permits the library to legally show movies to groups. It was suggested that patrons be informed in case groups wanted to use the community room for showing a movie.

Discussed what funds to use for purchase of new books in the remaining months of this fiscal year. Board approved the use of the Friends of the Library contributions and the city of New Providence contribution as well as the Direct State Aid funds (which must be spent this fiscal year). If additional funds are needed to purchase books, the board approved the use of Frey Trust funds.

The storage closet has been started in the conference room. Lou and Duane will complete the project after the carpeting has been finished.

Board approved the purchase of an aquarium that will be kept at the circulation desk. Board approved the use of the Potgeter bequest to purchase the aquarium. Dan will teach staff and volunteers how to clean the tank so they can help with its maintenance.

After researching library counters, Dan recommended the library purchase the “People Counter Entra.” Cost will be $389 plus shipping. Board approved the purchase of the recommended counter. Counter will be installed just inside the exterior door.

Terms of three board members will be expiring: Mary Swartz, Dean Stickrod and Jan Dunn.  These board members are asked to make their decision about continuing on the board by the May meeting to allow time to seek other candidates if necessary.
