MINUTES
Eldora Public Library Board of Trustees
June 29, 2010

PRESENT: Jan Dunn, Kristin Gehrke, Jill Stanish, Mary Swartz, Dean Stickrod, Lou Schafer, Dan Gehring

MINUTES were approved. BILLS were approved.

Discussed monthly book purchases. Board approved using up to $500 per month from the Library Trust Fund for book buying to supplement the $1000 budgeted amount.

Sherri Bader will be taking a full-time teaching position for the fall. Susan expressed interest in taking on Sherri’s duties. The Board approved Susan taking on the additional 10 hours per week bringing her hours to 28 per week.

Discussed new library software. Dan had priced Destiny, Alexandria and Apollo. Traer Library uses Apollo and their catalog can be viewed at http://traer.biblionix.com/products/ The decision regarding which system to purchase was tabled until the next meeting.

Friends of the Library book sale will be Saturday, August 28.

WIC program will no longer be using the library. They will be meeting at Greenbelt’s new location at the old hospital.

Frey Trust interest in the amount of $305.42 was deposited in the library trust account.

The library will be having an Open House on Saturday, July 24. Events include a visiting Iowa author in the morning, luncheon for volunteers, and demonstrations of electronic services for patrons (particularly NEIBORS audiobook service).

Eldora Library will participate in the Hardin County Library Association booth at the Hardin County Fair. Board approved the donation of an onyx chess set for a door prize.

The projection screen has been mounted and already used for a movie during the Summer Reading Program. Staff thought the screen worked very well.

Volunteer work on the retaining wall has been discontinued. Building and Grounds sought bids for completion of the job. One bid had been received and an additional bid was pending.

Bids were also being collected for trimming the maple and three plum trees. One bid had been received and Jan Dunn will arrange for an additional bid. Thanks to Dan for spreading additional mulch in the flower beds.

A sub will be needed to take minutes at the July meeting.
