Minutes January 2009

Eldora Public Library Board of Trustees
January 27, 2009

PRESENT: Don Wilson, Kristin Gehrke, Dean Stickrod, Jill Stanish, Dan Gehring

MINUTES were approved. BILLS were approved.

Discussed 2009-2010 budget.  Ian Rigg said that he had put in a request with the city for $5000 to repair the library’s retaining wall.  Ian also indicated that the city had contracted with James Nehring, County IT, to provide computer repair/support.  It was agreed that the library would use Nehring for future computer needs.  Ian also said that he was waiting until next month to ask about the new city server.  The possibility of using “thin clients” in the future was discussed.

The library’s fire extinguishers had been recalled. Dan will check whether the company will cover cost of replacement.  Replacement cost will be $330.

Discussed having Buseum come to Eldora.  Dan will check whether the Historical Society and/or other organizations would be willing to cover a portion of the cost.  The board approved using the balance of $148 unused from Sunday Salon funds to go toward hosting the Buseum.

Dan indicated that Susan had applied for and received free art books for the library.
The calendar on the library's integrated library system will run out in 2011. North Central Library Service Area is still working on purchasing a joint computer system for information sharing.

Discussed $15,000 extra money from library fund. Dan will ask if the city is factoring those funds into the 2009-2010 budget or whether the money is available to be spent on books.  It was suggested that at least $4000 be used if possible to help with book costs through the remainder of this fiscal year.

Don Wilson will contact Harold Marsh to determine if he is interested in continuing to serve on the Library Board.

NEXT MEETING: February 24, 2009 at 5:00pm.
