MINUTES approved. BILLS approved.

In spite of repairs and electricity being over budget, the overall budget is on track.

Ben Speck will get the atrium lights all working as well as the bay window lights.

Internet conversion on computers was completed.

Dan is waiting to hear about grants from McElroy and Cargill.

Shirly Daleske has been getting the beds ready for spring planting. South Hardin Service Day will be Wednesday, May 4. Dan will request 6-10 volunteers. Jill told Shirley about Service Day; she will hopefully assist. Jan volunteered to help oversee the student’s work that day. Jill and Shirley will discuss plant purchases for the library grounds.

Dan distributed a memo from Iowa Library Association. According to the state auditor, “the library cannot give books which are public property and purchased with public funds to a private non-profit organization (such as a library Friends group).” The statement was verified by the state attorney. Future book sales need to be conducted by the library. It was suggested that funds from book sales be deposited into the library trust fund with Friends of the Library given authority to designate how those funds are spent. Dan will talk to Friends members about that option.

Susan is facilitating a discussion on the play Twelve Angry Men on Thursday, April 28 at 6:30pm.

Family Fest will take place on May 14 from 1:00 to 4:00pm. Dan will help out at the Hardin County Library Association table to help promote library use, the summer reading program and the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.

Frey Trust interest was being accidentally deposited back into principal. Dan will work with Joyce to get this problem corrected

Due to budgetary constraints, the Board voted to not give a donation to Experience Works.

The library will be hosting a spring auction. Ed Bear is working with two youngsters to help them learn how to auctioneer so they can assist with the library auction.

Dan will find out the deadline to be on the November ballot for a levy. He will check on what other items may also be on the ballot for fall.

It was suggested that the Trustee Manual be systematically reviewed and updated as necessary. It was suggested that the job descriptions be reviewed first.
