The library ended up $1,016.57 under budget for the year.  The report on Library Fund revenue, however, showed $7,438.08 less annual revenue than projected.  As the Library Fund contained $1151.14 to begin the year, this resulted in the Treasurer's Report showing a year end negative balance of $5,269.37.

Discussed the Library Levy. Board expressed concern whether it would pass with so many other financial burdens on city. Board voted to not pursue a Library Levy at this time.

Pine Lake Festival will be July 29-31 and the book sale will be on Saturday from 9-3. Julie Stone will also be at the library to sign books.

Dan reported that the city of New Providence had recently made a $600 donation to the Eldora Public Library.

48 children completed the Summer Reading Program and received prizes. The pool party was a great success. Thank you to Joan Grothoff for donating her time for the pool party.

Susan attended a storytelling festival in Clear Lake which also included classes.

Mary talked with Scott about the Heart of Iowa estimate for networking the computers. He had some additional questions; it was suggested that Heart of Iowa be invited to the next board meeting to field questions from the trustees. Mary will tell Scott about the meeting. Dan will contact Heart of Iowa to see if someone can attend the August Board meeting.

Discussed replacing three of the computers that have been having some problems. Decision was tabled until the next meeting so other board members could have input.

Dan distributed the Library Board Bylaws with some changes to simplify the language. Board approved the changes.

NEXT MEETING: August 30, 2011 5:00 pm.
