Eldora Public Library Board of Trustees
February 27, 2013
PRESENT: Kristin Gehrke, Mary Swartz, Jerry Trittien, Jill Stanish, Dan Gehring
MINUTES approved. BILLS approved. One travel reimbursement will be taken from miscellaneous line
in budget.
Finance Committee met and turned in a budget that was 6% higher than the current year’s budget.
Library had some heating issues. Siemens tried to diagnose over the phone but ended up sending a
technician. Brown Heating & Cooling tightened a water pump seal that has a slow leak. Dan will talk to
Lou about having Tom McDonald stop by the library for an estimate on crating heating/cooling zones for
the library.
A grant application to HCCEF was submitted to purchase puppets and an art cart. The Dollar General
Grant is being worked on to help fund the summer reading program.
The winter book sale raised over $500. Sixty percent of the books belonged to the city so that portion of
the profits will go to the library and the remaining money will go to the Friends of the Library.
Discussed selling a large TV the library no longer needs. Board approved for Dan to price and put out for
sale with the remaining books.
Susan will be attending a training regarding early literacy for birth-3 years on March 8 in Waterloo. Her
travel expenses will be taken from miscellaneous line in budget.
Monday, March 11, there will be a stained glass demonstration by Jan Smith of The Glass Haven.
Program begins at 1:30pm.
Discussed security cameras. Dan mentioned that Parkersburg Library bought a system from Menards that
they like. The digital, wireless system includes 2 cameras for $229. Cameras would be placed in the
foyer and children’s area. Dan will get a bid for the cost of running electric to cameras.
