MINUTES approved. BILLS approved.
Dan gave Director’s Report. An alarm has been installed at the back door where the break in occurred.
Motion lights have been purchased but not yet installed.
Dean arranged to have the Special Trust CD moved to Special Trust Super Saver.
Brown Heating & Cooling indicated that switching systems would be cost prohibitive. Dan will find out
the total cost to go with Siemens software and present at next month’s meeting. Board also asked what the
cost of upgrades would be for the software.
Dan said he felt the Community Service Day yielded good results. Linda helped supervise some students
cleaning windows while other students worked on the grounds.
Summer Reading Brochures were distributed. Susan has lined up a program for each week of the
program. Registration will kick off with hot dogs on the last day of school, June 4. In addition to reading
logs and programs, Susan is having art on Tuesdays (kids and adults welcome) and also some Family
Nights after hours. Susan was able to acquire a grant for $500 from Dollar General to be used for prizes
as well as board books.
Discussion on Library Levy was tabled until next meeting.
Board pre-approved payment for upcoming carpet cleaning and also for the routine spring maintenance
visit from Brown Heating & Cooling. Board approved the proposed staff pay increases for both full and
part-time library staff.
Discussed purchase of a color copy machine. Dan had received one bid and was waiting to get another.
Dan indicated that most libraries in the area offer color copying. He also said that a copier with faster
faxing capability would be helpful. Decision was tabled until the additional bid is received.
Patron use of NEIBORS has steadily increased. Usage in 2012 was more than double that of 2011. Board
agreed to renew both NEIBORS and EBSCO services.
