Eldora Public Library Board of Trustees
October 28, 2014

PRESENT: Dean Stickrod, Jerry Trittien, Kristin Gehrke, Rex Lawler, Mary Swartz, Jackie Winters, Jill
Stanish, Dan Gehring

MINUTES were approved. BILLS were approved.

Rex Lawler was welcomed as an official member of the Board of Trustees.

Dan enjoyed the library conference he attended. One session was related to measuring success in more
ways than just circulation.

Dan still working on finding out whether the city will help pay for the recently replaced air conditioner

Dan reminded that board that library policies needed to be reviewed for the library’s accreditation

Dan would like an update to the control monitor for the Siemens system added to next year’s budget.

Discussed reviewing Long Range Plans prior to submitting budget so funds can be allocated for 2015
projects. Dan mentioned he had a patron request for a genealogy tool, Heritage Quest.

Discussed library usage by New Providence residents. It was suggested that donations from the
City of New Providence could more closely match the community's use of the library. Dan will
compile data and report back to the Board at the November meeting.

Library will host Halloween party on Friday, October 31 at 4pm serving chili and including a costume
parade at 4:45. Board members were invited to help with the event.

Dan learned of a service for adding Accelerated Reader information to existing library database that
would cost $500. He will research less expensive options.

A patron had some problems with printing (board member will try to find out more specific details about
the problem). It was suggested that the library develop a schedule for replacement of the oldest

Board began reviewing Library Policies. Members were asked to review the “Collection” policy through
the “Safe Child Policy” prior to the next meeting.
