Eldora Public Library Board of Trustees

December 30, 2014


PRESENT: Dean Stickrod, Jerry Trittien, Kristin Gehrke, Rex Lawler, Jill Stanish, Dan Gehring


MINUTES were approved. BILLS were approved. Dan will be talking to Whink manager regarding boiler bill.


Rotary donated $500 to the library from haunted hospital fundraiser. $120 was also received from United Methodist Women. It will be used for children’s books and a thank you was sent.


Friends of the Library donated $1200 to cover four special summer events. They have been thanked.


Barry Scott (Industrial Arts teacher at South Hardin) is working on a display rack for brochures. The Friends of the Library will cover the cost for materials.


Dan applied for Libri Foundation Children’s Books Grant. If the library receives the grant, the Friends of the Library has offered to pay the matching funds of $350. Libri would provide $700 which would mean $1050 for children’s books.


Dan finalized 2015-2016 budget. Finance Committee approved budget. Also discussed budget for library trust; Dan will forward to city.


The boiler will cost $5,696 to repair; replacement would be $7,723 plus the cost of tying into Siemen’s monitoring system. Dan will be talking to the new city administrator about how air conditioner and heater repairs will be paid. Final decision about boiler was not made.


DVDs have been separated into children’s, TV programs, general, holiday, musicals, nonfiction documentary and R-rated.


Library accreditation application will be due in March. Board reviewed and made final updates to the library policies.


Dan applied to Iowa Falls Wal-Mart for $1500 worth of Lego products to be used for summer activities.


Discussion of Projects for 2015 was tabled until the January meeting.
